Primmer Olds B.A.S supporting Alzheimer's Society

Primmer Olds B.A.S are proud to support Alzheimer’s Society as our Charity of the year. The whole team voted and we came to the decision as its close to our hearts.

Both offices have been and will be taking part in charity efforts throughout the year such as;  900 miles throughout March, Alzheimer’s Quiz, Memory Walks, Quit for a Bit & Elf Day.

Assistant surveying executive Georgia Hayward lost her grandad to Alzheimer’s a few years ago and has been racking up the miles through lunchtime and beach walks with colleagues and friends, finding that it has positively affected her mental health.

She said: ‘It’s extremely heart-warming that the company I work for, and my colleagues, are all contributing to raising awareness for the cause.

‘I’ve felt better for exercising more, I have a better mindset coming back into the office for the afternoon. It also encourages me to be more present and to explore new places.’

Surveying executive Shirley Perkins’ grandmother experienced dementia in her later years.

She said: ‘I’m walking to and from work every day and dog walking morning and night, going a bit further. My personal goal is to not be tempted to drive or catch the bus when it’s raining. It’s good to support the charity.’

Some colleagues have also embarked on other charity challenges within the year, such as Alzheimer’s Society’s Glow Portsmouth – a 5km walk along Southsea seafront to shine a light on dementia.

When deciding to embark on a charity fundraiser, director Duane Walker, who is currently clocking up the miles in training for the Brighton Marathon, felt it was important to choose a theme that would also positively benefit the workforce, both physically and mentally.

He said: ‘We’ve all been affected mentally over the last two years due to the pandemic, but being a keen runner and someone who likes to stay active myself, I’m a strong believer that exercise can have a hugely positive impact on one’s mental health, as well as the obvious physical benefits.

‘For us, being able to look after our mental and physical health while making a positive change for an important cause is very rewarding and we hope that our efforts, both during this challenge and other challenges throughout the year will make a difference to people who need it most.’

Primmer Olds B.A.S., which has offices in both Southampton and Dorset, offers services such as valuation, building surveying, commercial sales and lettings, property management, architecture and project management throughout the South Hampshire and Dorset region.
